  • Best Way to Fix ?

    Hello,
I just did 5 shirts for a guy, the first 4 1/2 came out great, 2 pockets on each shirt, 1 design on each pocket. The last shirt, last pocket, (ofcourse) design is a disaster. He wanted the acordian in the Dakota book. Pockets are small so had to scale design in 1/2. I don't know enough, obviously, to know how to change numbers in the design after resizing. After all that, my question is....what is the best fix ? Tear all out and redo, throw shirt out and hope to find a matching one ?
Thank You for any suggestions !

You have two choices. Tear out the stitching you have already done as carefully as possible or replace shirt. Shirt may be easy to replace and that is the easiest but more costly. Hopefully you don't have to confess and have them find another shirt. Good luck.

Thanks Margaret, I did just that, took out design. Now my question is, to redo the design it has to be scaled in half, the columns, densities, etc need to be changed, what's a 'rule of thumb' for me to be using ?

        Dear Christy,
Open up the scaled (smaller)version of the design and look to the stitch window (right side of screen. As you look at the design in the stitch window the design breaks apart into fills, columns, etc. I would start with a fill and right click on it. A window should come up that has all the parameters in it. Find the density and make the number larger. Do that in each fill or column. This will remove some of the stitches in the solid areas. Maybe go up one number like from a 3 to a 4. After you have finished do a save as and rename by adding a number at the end. Stitch the design out on a sample as close to your project fabric. See how it works. Look at the sample and if a certain area puckers then go back in and make the numbers larger. If you think it is a walk stitch then make the stitch length longer. You will have to play with it until it will work and be smooth. Hope this helps.
