  • Emb on Sashes-satin ????? help

    hi does anyone have any hints on embroidering on sashes? i am sewing these for a beauty pagent and i keep getting little puckers above the lettering? what type of backing is best? what about the density of the design? thanks,tina

    I just got the order for our local beauty pageant...and they did not want embroidery...instead I'll be doing heat seal for everything.
    To embroider on the sash, you are going to need a good 'stiff' backing (tearaway) and probably have to shut off auto material thickness...experiment with some scrap until you find the right setting to avoid the puckering.
    You might also have to plan on ironing/steaming if possible after you are done to flatten it down.

        Sulky's Totally Stable is an iron-on tearaway stabilizer. I think you'll have much better luck if you stabilize the fabric as well as the design.
