I see on this board that lots of you do patches. What can you charge for these to be worthwhile? If you were selling the embroidered garment you would make more money. So are you are doing the same amount of work for a patch? Thanks.

I do the setup and proof for patches, but send all my orders out to EMS company...just quoted patches this morning-a 3" patch, (lenght + width divided by 2) is only $3.18 each (RETAIL) by 100 piece order...up to 7 colors. There is no way possible to compete with that price on an Amaya..our 'cost' is $1.59 each!
This customer needs the patches to send around the world-but may offer the same image sewn direct to camoflage clothing-then I'll do the sewing here and supply the garment.
But, for 5,000 stitches or so-I will have to charge at least $7.50 per garment!
I've seen several others pricing patches way below the same image sewn onto clothing... and that is only going to lose money for you. For small quantities, 25 or so-you can do it in house, but still have to charge what you would for sewing direct...
so it is easy to talk a customer into ordering 100 for what it would cost YOU to do 25!
And it makes you a good profit for NO time spent sewing.
