  • 210 nylon gym bag

    Hello all:

I am getting ready to do a nylon (210 nylon) gym bag. Does anyone have any helpful hints for backing, etc.

    Thanks

Went to fabric store and purchased 210 nylon fabric and tried a sew out. Used 75/11 BP needles, one layer of medium cut away with spray adhesive.

    Fabric puckered and shifted.

    Any suggestions?

Ed, John, Roland, Aaron, anyone there?

We havn't ever had much of a problem with gymbags and the like.

Is your design too dense? Have you tried decreasing the density by 20% or so (as long as it still covers? Does it have good underlay to tack it to the backing? How large is the design? What kind of hoop are you using?

When we have done gym bags in the past, we used sticky backing, the fast frames and clips to hold things in place. Presser foot all the way down or one click up. Probably slowed the speed to about 1000 or 1050.

I have had better luck without backing. Getting the density correct is very important to keep it from puckering.

I thought I remembered a discussion on the list where using some kind of tape on the hoop to help hold the material was mentioned.

I am using a 7.02 grey plastic circle hoop.

          I will check the density.

          The design is 3.5 X 3.5 inches.
