Font problems

Hello everyone. I may have asked this questions about a month ago but haven't found out what is happening. We have had our Amaya since Dec. 2006. We have never had a problem with our fonts before. Several weeks back we were working on a new design and every font we tried to use a box would come up and say, This number or letter isn't available. This didn't happen on just one font but all fonts. The way we have gotten around this is to go back to an old design, copy it and paste it and then choose the font or letters we need to use for the new project. Could it be a problem with our software. We got our software out and reloaded it but the problem is still there. This is getting to be a pain in the neck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
