I had the same problem with the chain alphabet. I spoke to my rep and was told I should contact Melco about it. I never did, decided I probably wouldn't use it. I would be interested in hearing a resolution though. I haven't tried it since I installed my update.
Also I just increased my computer memory (RAM) to 4 GB and haven't had any shutdown or lock up problems since. It's been really nice.
