Radial Out is Design Shop Question

Can anyone help me with the radial in/out function in the design shop fill effects. I'm trying to do a fade circle and it has to have a ragged edge(fade from center out) I thought I could do it with layers using the effects function. The problem I'm having is all the fill patterns that I try are putting lines in the design which I don't want. I want it to be evenly spaced consistently across the design. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
