  • sewing on padded bag

I have a customer who would like initials sewn on a thick padded bag. I practiced on a sample but wasn't really pleased with the lettering and how it sank into the fabric. Is there anyway to sew on padded items and have it turn out well?

you can try increasing the pull compensation and increase the material thickness and lower thread limit. They can help with the pullin on padded items.
Just sewed out 36 nylon jackets that had a sweat shirt fleece lining this morning.
Before I adjusted the above they were pulling the layers too tight and caused puckering. after I set the thickness to 12 and the lower limit to 9 they sewed and looked perfect!

Thank you. I will experiment with those settings. The padding in these bags is about 3/8 inch though, so I'm not sure it can even be done. Has anyone had success embroidering on this level of padding?

I have sewn on insulated lunch bags about that thick. It worked out fine.
